I H8 DIS 2!!!
What irks you about text messages? Me...
- I can't stand for someone to ask me a question through a text and when I answer, they text back with "k." Was that really necessary?
- I can't stand when someone uses an abbreviation or acronym (I'm sure there's a word for those damn things.) that is not common knowledge or easily figured out. I can deal with 'idk' as 'I don't know,' but am I supposed to understand that 'me2ul8r' is common for 'meet you later'? If I stare at it long enough, I might figure it out but that pisses me off.
- If you text me with 'Sup?' and I answer 'Not much. U?,' why the hell would you text me back with 'r u sleep'? -Yes it happened!
What pisses you off about text messages? -And --M you can't answer back with "Text messages themselves."

LOL. It may surprise you, but I *love* texting. In fact, my number-one text annoyance is:
1. When people could text you, but call instead. Instead of a quick two second U ready? message and Yeah response, there's the drawn-out, awkward five minutes of "Hey", "What's up?", "You ready?" and so one. I say that if it can possibly be condensed into under 244 characters, then it should be, by gum.
I'm with you on cryptic acronyms, though. The first time my regular porn monkey sent me an omw, I didn't figure out that he meant "on my way" until he was walking up the stairs.
Also I do get irked by typing on the tiny number pad. I know that could be fixed by buying a more expensive phone with a tiny keyboard, which would be slightly less irksome, but I'm perpetually cheap and broke.
Oh! And I'm going to disagree with your first bullet point. The final "k" isn't strictly necessary, but I've found that some providers (AT&T seems especially bad about this) sometimes misplace texts and fail to deliver them for half an hour or so. The "k" can be a nice way of confirming that your response was received; your correspondent probably wasn't thinking about that, especially if it's the same one who asked if you were asleep, but in theory it can be useful. :)
I can agree partially with you. I love a text message as opposed to a call when it is a short, over-and-out message.
